2011 Alumni Accepted at YoungCuts Film Festival 2012

At this year's YoungCuts Film Festival, SIX featured films were by 2011 alumni from BFA Computer Art, Computer Animation & Visual Effects. These films, along with all the other films accepted at this year's festival, are available for viewing on the YoungCuts website. The festival will also have a series of screenings at Condordia University in Montreal, home of YoungCuts.

The following films will feature during the 2012 Animation & Music Screening on Friday, October 12th at 3pm:

Bounty + Hunter by Eugene Chu
Hz by Seungmi Nam
King Killian by James McKenzie
Package Frank by David Chen & Carl Fong
Rabbitkadabra by Michelle Czajkowski, David Chen, Krzysztof Fus & Naomi Chen

Toast by Henry Jean has been selected as one of the festivals Top 10 of 2012 films and will be featured during their Grand rix (Best of) Screening on Saturday, October 13th at 9pm.

The YoungCuts Film Festival has also announced their Top 100 International Short Films of 2012 with several films by our alumni:

This year our alumni and current students have had great success at SIGGRAPH's Computer Animation Festival. The following films have been accepted and will screen at the SIGGRAPH conference this August in Los Angeles - the program in which the film will screen has been listed after each title:

Alumni and 2012 Seniors Advance to Student Academy Awards Semifinals

Aquatic Bloom by 2011 alumni Susie Hong and Bokyeong Kim and Ramus by 2012 seniors Danica Parry and Chris DeVito have advanced to the semifinals of this year's Student Academy Awards. Both films will screen next Thursday, April 26th at the Lighthouse International Theatre in NYC. A panel of judges will be present to select which films will move on to the final round, which will screen in Los Angeles.

Official Selection of 2010 Alumni at Dead By Dawn Film Festival

"Pork N' Bones" by 2010 Alum M. Tyler Heckman has been selected to screen at Dead By Dawn 2012, Scotland's international horror film festival.

2011 Alumna selected for Tricky Women 2012


We are very happy to announce that Cipher by 2011 alumna Catherine Nguyen has been selected for the Young Talents program of Tricky Women 2012, the first and only festival of animated short films by female artists. The 9th edition of Tricky Women will take place in Vienna, Austria, March 14 - 18, 2012.

2011 Alumni Nominated in 10th Annual VES Awards


Aquatic Bloom, by 2011 alumni Susie Hong and Bokyeong Kim, has been nominated for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Student Project in the 10th Annual VES Awards. The nominees were announced by the Visual Effects Society on January 9, 2012 in Los Angeles by distinguished panels of VES members from around the world. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Tuesday, February 7.

2011 Alumni Featured In aNYmator Article About MetroCAF 2011

Recently posted on aNYmator, an online publication of ASIFA East, is an article by Tristian Goik about MetroCAF 2011. The article features two films by 2011 Computer Art alumni whose films were accepted and screened at the festival: Bounty + Hunter by Eugene Chu and Aquatic Bloom by Susie Hong and Bokyeong Kim. The image associated with the article is a still from Bounty + Hunter and the author includes some of Eugene's thoughts about his film: "He told me that his film demonstrates how the linearity of train travel plays off how we travel through our life-decisions and turn down different paths..."

Outstanding Success by 2011 Alumni at NYC ACM SIGGRAPH MetroCAF!

The ninth edition of MetroCAF featured TEN films by 2011 Computer Art alumni! MetroCAF is the annual NYC Metropolitan Area College Computer Animation Festival organized by the New York CIty chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH.

2011 & 2010 Alumni Films Selected For SCHLINGEL

Rabbitkadabra by 2011 alumni Michelle Czajkowski, Krzysztof Fus, David Chen and Naomi Chen has been selected for the Animation Film Competition of the 16th International Film Festival for Children and Young Audience (SCHLINGEL), which will be held October 10th - 16th, 2011 in the city of Chemnitz, Germany. The film will be eligible for the Animation Film Prize. 

Also, Aquatic Bloom by 2011 alumni Susie Hong and Bokyeong Kim, and Pork N' Bones by 2010 alum Michael Tyler Heckman have been selected for the Panorama section of the festival. For more information, please visit the festival website at www.ff-schlingel.de

2011 Alumni Films Accepted at SIGGRAPH Asia

Two films by SVA Computer Art alumni have been accepted at this year's SIGGRAPH Asia Computer Animation Festival in Hong Kong: Rabbitkadabra by Michelle Czjakowski, Kryzsztof Fus, David Chen and Naomi Chen, and The Fear by Sung In Sohn.
