Dreamworks & BFA Computer Art: Recap
This past Thursday, two representatives from DreamWorks visited SVA and the BFA Computer Art Department. In the first of two presentations, Tiffany Feeney, Outreach Supervisor from PDI DreamWorks, gave BFA Computer Art students an overview of DreamWorks Animation and talked about the skills and experiences necessary to work in the CG Animation field.
During the second presentation at the SVA Theatre, Patrick Hanenberger, Production Designer of their upcoming film Rise of the Guardians, spoke to a huge group of enthusiastic guests at the SVA Theatre. Patrick talked about the production process of the film and showed some behind-the-scenes footage. Thank you to everyone who came to these presentations and a special thanks to DreamWorks to flying out to SVA to talk to all of us!
Here are some pictures from both presentations:
Lucasfilm Visits SVA: Recap
On September 28th, SVA students gathered in the BFA Computer Art, Animation, and Visual Effects department to hear firsthand from Lucasfilm recruiter Ryan Howe about what it takes to make it as a designer or artist at Lucasfilm. Ryan discussed Jedi Academy, the California-based internship program, as well as job opportunities for Technical Artists, Animators, Concept Artists, Character Artists, and more. Students saw exclusive footage of Lucasfilm projects and process, heard job search advice from experienced Lucasfilm employees, and had all their questions answered by an experienced recruiter.
Jedi Academy is looking for summer interns in game programming and engineering, game art, R&D engineering, software engineering, information technology, web development and more. The internship program is paid and open to junior undergraduate, Masters, and PhD students. Applications open up in mid-December, so check out their website for all the details and for job opportunities, too!

BFA Computer Art appearing at MoCCA Fest 2011, April 9th & 10th
The BFA Computer Art Department will be at this year's MoCCA Festival!
Stop by our table, L3 (from the entrance, turn right, aisle closest to the wall) to view current student and alumni work, featuring select thesis films and demo reels. We will also be selling prints and mini-comics from students and staff alike!
The MoCCA Festival is a fundraiser for the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art, whose purpose is the collection, preservation, study, education, and display of comic and cartoon art. The main goal of the museum is to educate the public about comic and cartoon art, how it is crafted, and how it reflects history.
The MoCCA Fest will be held on April 9th and 10th at the Lexington Avenue Armory, on 68 Lexington Avenue, between 25th and 26th streets. Admission is $10 per day, $15 for a weekend pass.
