Alumni and 2012 Seniors Advance to Student Academy Awards Semifinals

Aquatic Bloom by 2011 alumni Susie Hong and Bokyeong Kim and Ramus by 2012 seniors Danica Parry and Chris DeVito have advanced to the semifinals of this year's Student Academy Awards. Both films will screen next Thursday, April 26th at the Lighthouse International Theatre in NYC. A panel of judges will be present to select which films will move on to the final round, which will screen in Los Angeles.

Pork N' Bones by Michael Tyler Heckman and Too Much Of A Story by Tae Lin Oh have advanced to the Semifinals of this year's Student Academy Awards. Both films will screen this Thursday at the Lighthouse International Theatre in NYC. A panel of judges will be present to select which films will move on to the next and final round which will screen in Los Angeles.

2008 Alumni make it to Regional Finals of 2009 Student Academy Awards

Lilium Urbanus, by Anca Risca & Joji Tsuruga, has made it through the Semi-Finals of the Student Academy Awards and will be competing in the Animation category at the Regional Finals in Los Angeles. The film screened here in New York along with two other 2008 alumni films: Alien Abduction by David Han and YEA by Adam Newman. Lilium Urbanus will be moving on with a film from SVA's MFA Computer Art Department. Check back here soon for the results of the next round of competition!

SVA Computer Art Alumni nominated for Student Academy Awards

The BFA Computer Art Department is pleased to announce that three films by the class of 2005 alumni are regional finalists for the Student Academy Awards. Only 7 films were selected as finalists in the animation category. Abridged, by Joshua Harvey and Mats Andersson, Eternity, by Travis Griggs and Ylli Orana, and Betty, by Rie Ito, will be a part of the regional finals to be held on Tuesday, April 27th at the Lighthouse Theater in Manhattan. A distinguished panel of judges will choose up to three animated student films to advance to the national finals. Winners of the National Student Academy Awards will be announced on June 11th at the National Academy Theater in Los Angeles.
